Michelle goes for it with new online Irish learning service
If you are looking to learn Irish then a new online service set up by a Plumbridge woman could be perfect for you.
MF Learning Seirbhisi Foghlama can provide courses for clubs/communities groups seeking Irish language training, work with schools to deliver Irish as an extended school activity, and offer Irish conversation classes for parents considering a Gaelscoil education for their children.
Michelle Furey is the brains behind MF Learning Seirbhisi Foghlama. Her professional background is in Irish and education, she holds a Master of Education, a Bachelor of Education with Irish and Irish medium education from St Mary's University College, Belfast.
Supporting Michelle in her new venture has been the Go For It programme for new startup businesses. The programme is delivered free of charge by a team of experienced business mentors through Northern Ireland's wide network of enterprise agencies. It provides expert advice and help with developing a robust business plan to help turn ideas into a commercial enterprise.
Orla McNulty, business advisor with with Strabane Enterprise Agency on behalf of Derry and Strabane District Council, explained- "We worked with Michelle to develop and fine-tune her business plan, making a number of small recommendations that would help with the short-term and long-term sustainability of the business. We are delighted to see Michelle's business launch and wish her much success for the future. If you have a business idea you'd like to develop or if you are thinking about starting a business contact the Go For It Programme on 0800 027 0639 or visit www.gofotitni.com"
The Go For It team enrolled Michelle on the Business Innovation and Growth (BIG) programme. This involved working with Full Circle Management Solutions on a mentoring programme. Michelle noted the importance of the BIG programme and how it has guided and advised her every step of the way.
She explained "As the owner of an increasingly busy small business, the support from Derry and Strabane's BIG programme has been an invaluable resource in allowing me to work with experienced business mentors. The plans that my mentors have assisted me to put in place will help me on the journey to secure new business opportunities. I would highly recommend the BIG programme to any new business owners- it is a great opportunity for learning and growth."
